Red Light Therapy

Red Light Therapy   is used to heal a number of health issues.  Red Light penetrates the skin and stimulates  mitochondrial functioning by producing ATP (adenosine triphosphate) which is what

every cell in our body uses as fuel.  This is the part of the cell that stimulates healing and produces protein and collagen. Also, with the production of nitric oxide (our body’s natural vasodilator), our blood vessels soften, allowing more oxygenated blood flow to inflamed areas to help reduce pain.

The History of Red Light Therapy

NASA discovered red light could be isolated, taking out harmful UV rays.  With the emergence of LEDs (light emitting diodes), NASA used this technology to help grow plants in space and to promote healing while in a micro-gravity state.

Is Red Light Therapy Safe?

Yes! There have been over 5,000 published medical studies on Red Light Therapy, finding virtually no side effects.

What is the difference between Red and Near-infrared Light?

Red and near-infrared light are part of the electromagnetic spectrum. At the highest end of the visible light spectrum is red light, which has a wavelength of 600nM to approximately 700nM. Above the visible light spectrum is near-infrared, (invisible to the naked eye), having a wavelength from approximately 700nM to over 1,000nM.

Most other wavelengths of light (UV, blue, green and yellow) are, for the most part, unable to penetrate into the body. It is the red and near-infrared wavelengths that have amazing effects on our bodies. Most research showing benefits of red light and near-infrared light have used wavelengths in the ranges of 630-680nM Red and 800-880nM Near-Infrared).

Red light penetrates our skin to a distance of about 8mm depending on the strength and wavelength. Infra-red light penetrates even deeper than Red Light (several centimeters) and together they are able to reach deep into the cells, tissues, blood, nerves, brain and bones. Once in these deeper tissues, red light and infra-red light have incredible healing effects on the cells where they can increase energy production, reduce inflammation, relieve pain, help cells regenerate faster and much more.

How does Red Light Therapy work on fat reduction?

Research shows that when Red light was used on areas to heal them, patients were also losing fat.  Body scans showed that the fat cells were losing their contents through a pore that was created by the light. After being released into the bloodstream, the fat was broken down into free fatty acids and glycerol which were used as energy or quickly eliminated by the body. Each treatment is followed with 10 minutes of whole body vibration to accelerate the process of burning the released fat as energy.

How is Red Light Therapy used for Anti-Aging?

Red Light Therapy easily penetrates through the skin and boosts circulation. Near Infra-red in particular goes deeper into the tissues and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, giving your skin a firmer, plumper appearance.
